Ever since watching Pretty Woman when I was a kid in Ohio I dreamed of the day when I could brunch poolside in sunny Beverly Hills. Cut to many years later here we are sipping a cold rose' and indulging in black truffles shaved over soft scrambled eggs and it is better than I could have imagined. This brunch took place at what is now my new favorite Wally's Beverly Hills, it is part wine mega store, part cheese shop & a flawless restaurant. Leave it to my resident cultural attaché David (also known as Davina) to be in the know of the best spots to check out (thanks doll). We sat outside where we had the perfect view for the endless people watching (not to mention this incredible lighting for food photos!) and started by sharing this delicious avocado toast that got eaten before I could get a shot of the whole thing. I loved the soft boiled egg and the sliced red onion it really made this standard LA appetizer feel new again (I love a makeover don't you?)
The best news I heard all day was when Davina ordered the pork belly egg sandwich, I was desperate to try 1 (or 2,3,4) of those golden fries that came with it. My husband Matt went the sensible route and got the crusted trout. I did sneak in a bite of that and it was great. Can you even with the little cucumber wheels in the salad!? LOVE ( could have doen without the Vegas swirly saucing underneath but I digress.
Finally here is my choice, soft scrambled eggs on toast with black truffle shavings. I don't thing a better sentence has ever been written than "soft scrambled eggs on toast with black truffle shavings" lets be honest here. It was heaven and they obviously didn't short me on the truffles, but come on when people are parking custom Bentleys in front they won't be messing around.
So if you happen to be in the neighborhood you will not be disappointed by a trip to Wally's Beverly Hills and hey you might even see me there. (if you do please say hello)
