She is that girl in your morning Yoga class, you know the one, she has that sold out Lululemon outfit, does a perfect handstand and the best part, her hair. Even in a topknot, pixie dust seems to be shooting from its so good. What is she doing that you aren't? Well your last cut was awhile ago and let be honest your highlights became low-lights due to gravity. All is not lost, you might not be able to do the handstand tomorrow but by next week we can have your hair in better shape.
One of the things that contributes to a lack of good hair is consistency. You want epic hair? Think of making your hair appointments like going to the dentist, you will need a cleaning in 6 months, and you will need a trim in 6 weeks. Don't let her get your appointment because you didn't want to commit, just go for it. When the time rolls around you will thank yourself instead of count split ends at your desk.
The way we treat our hair it is a miracle that it is still on our heads (myself included) One way you can help this is to not wash your hair or get it wet everyday. I have heard all the stories and excuses but if you plan it right you can save yourself some time and save your hair the stress of blow drying and ironing everyday. Think of it like buying fresh flowers, you don't throw them out when they look a little sad, you trim the ends and change the water. Same with your hair, if it's greasy pull it up into a tight top knot, too flat ½ up, crazy frizzy, re shape with a curling wand.
Check out this video to see how dry shampoo and a curling wand can work wonders for post workout hair:
As far as products go I know how you buy shampoo and conditioner. If it says for “hot mess, disaster hair” you will buy it (smart marketing) But if all you use is “repair, restore, SOS” type products your hair can become brittle because of the proteins in the “damage control” products. Try a simple moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to balance out the more complex products.
Give these tips a try and you can get back to perfecting that headstand with magical hair of your own. Which tip will you try first?
